Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Improves Liver Regeneration after Partial Liver Resection in Rats

Objective: Liver regeneration is necessary to restore hepatic mass and functional capacity after partial hepatectomy (PH). Cynara scolymus (CS) a pharmacologically important plant that contains phenolic acids flavonoids, experimental studies have indicated it has antioxidant hepatoprotective effects. The aim of this study was investigate the role CS in liver PH rats. 
 Methods: A total 36 Wistar albino rats weighing 280.5 ± 18.6 g were used. leaf extract administered hepatectomy. sacrificed at postoperative day 14, histological changes assessed. mitotic index (MI), nucleus size, hepatocyte binucleation rate (BR) hepatocytes assessed using hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining.
